Excited to be exhibiting again with the Society of Graphic Fine Art at Mall Galleries in London.
The society exists to promote and exhibit original works of art in traditional and contemporary media, that show excellence in drawing and draughtsmanship by hand.
Every year it is a delight to see the creativity and variety of artwork on display.
Peaches and Cream
Watercolour and ink
Framed W52 x H58cm
This year I will be exhibiting two watercolour and blotted line paintings both inspired by one of my favourite subjects, food.
Peaches and Cream was inspired by eating peaches in my mother in-law’s garden on a warm summer’s day and I wanted to evoke memories of their taste through colour and capture the difference in shapes as the slices sit above and below the transparent rim of the glass dish.
Gherkins
Watercolour and ink
Framed W48 x H53cm
Gherkins came from memories of reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle at school. My favourite part is the double page spread of what he ate on Saturday as the illustrations are so joyful. I remember our school copy was made of paper rather than the board book versions I often see now, they were slightly worn and grubby but the holes on each page were intact and I liked the feeling of running my fingers over them.
